Innsiden av akademiet: Utvikler Goas neste generasjon

Every Sporting Clube de Goa first-team shirt starts with a young player on a training pitch. This is a look at how the academy works, what it asks of its players, and why the club has always believed in growing its own.

Since the club was founded in 1999, developing local talent has been part of its identity. The academy is where that commitment becomes daily work: structured sessions, age-group squads and coaches who follow each player’s progress season by season.

Where it starts

Players join the academy at different ages and from different backgrounds, but the first focus is the same for all of them: technique, decision-making and enjoying the game. Sessions are built around the ball, with small-sided games that ask players to think quickly under pressure.

Coaches work to a shared style of play across every age group, so a player moving up a level recognises the language, the shape and the expectations waiting for them.

More than football

Development off the pitch matters just as much. Players are encouraged to keep up with their studies, to look after their bodies and to carry the club’s values into everything they do: respect, discipline and pride in representing Goa.

“The goal is not just to produce footballers, but to produce people the club is proud to call its own.”

The pathway to the first team

The clearest measure of the academy is the step up to senior football. Each season, the most promising players train alongside the first team, learning what the level demands before they are given their chance in competitive matches.

For the players who come through, the reward is the chance to wear the green and white in front of their own community. For the club, it is proof that the next generation of Goan football is already on the pitch.
